Today I take you spend a day in Belgium, not far from the French border on the side of Tournai ... This will change us a bit of Australia and Peru, but yet our Belgian friends are worth the trip for several rasions ... The Belgians are friendly, tourists are not cheated and the city of Tournai is beautiful as all!
There's no doubt, like the Belgian tourists. Of course, the tourist business using the good economy of the country, but not only. In Tournai, a town of only a few thousand inhabitants, I felt quickly at home.
Brekkie after the arrival of the regional train (20 minutes from borrowed Lille). First surprise: the grade of coffee! For the price that was asked for a large cream and orange juice, I'm not sure I have an espresso in France ...
A stroll through the streets of Tournai, with shots of regular eye on the street corners, hidden alleyways and historic monuments that adorn the town center. The Belfry and the Cathedral (which are still classified as World Heritage by UNESCO), the central square, the Museum of Natural History ...
The shopping street is quite long, and allows for some shopping (EUR always) because it is not a matter of not bring back memories of Belgium. In a small craft shop, I'll even cross a small Eiffel Tower (undoubtedly, it is everywhere!)
For the midday meal, I enjoy with specialties. I saw "patties" or "fricandelles" on all cards. So I'm starting, "With chips of course! »Meals not very balanced, but who cares, I'll catch up later ...
The day passes quickly, but I do not recommend a whole weekend to Tournay same. If you plan to visit the surrounding towns, because you will be moved by car, then yes, you can ask yourself to Tournay several days. But the main charm of this city is to be small, so obviously, the trick is quick.
