Things to do in Mexico - Top five tourist attractions in Mexico

In this article, I tried to do a "Top 5" places to visit in Mexico. The task is really difficult because both cultural and natural wealth of the country. The ranking of the best 'to do' is obviously very subjective. I just hope he can give you ideas of visits for your stay in Mexico.

This personal selection includes natural sites, archaeological sites and cities that have particularly marked me. Some are part of the tourist circuit called classics, others are small finds little known and I want to share with you.

Tulum beach and ruins (Quintana Roo)

Ruines en bord de plage, Tulum, Quintana Roo

Imagine a picture postcard with palm trees, the clear blue sea and white sand. Well, Tulum, that's right, only better! Because that, as if that were not enough, a Maya fortress is perched on a beach. The buildings do not have the majesty of those in Palenque or Teotihuacan but I must say that the palm trees and the cliff on the beach have a certain charm.

Tulum also has the advantage, relatively speaking, to be less touristy than Cancun or Playa del Carmen.

The city of Guanajuato (Guanajuato State)

Mozaique de couleur, Guanajuato

Guanajuato is, for me, one of the most iconic cities in Mexico: colorful as can be, full of history and culture, multicultural, vibrant, ...

There is plenty to do next museums, including the impressive Museo de las Momias (Museum of Mummies), representative of the vision of the Mexican death.

At night, the streets are alive to be with the famous callejoneadas and bars are full of surprises ...

In addition, the city will suit both families and young people thirsty for tequila.

The beach of Tenacatita (Jalisco, Costa Alegre)

Plage de Tenacatita, entre lagune et mer

The place certainly goes in the "small finds unknown."

This beach is not only heavenly, but in addition, it is deserted. Buildings had begun to erect but the state expropriated all these people, so it is left almost nothing on the coast except two huts that serve as restaurants and a hotel a little further.

The archaeological site of Palenque (Chiapas)

Pyramides, Palenque

Mexico is full of archaeological sites and other vestiges of Aztec and Maya civilizations, but if there is one to do, it is Palenque.

What for?

* Because the site is in the middle of a thick jungle full of animal sounds and covering much of the original site.
* Because the buildings are numerous and impressive.
* Because you can climb everywhere and so soak the best place.

Snorkeling in Akumal (Quintana Roo)
Akumal, Riviera Maya in full, halfway between Playa del Carmen and Tulum, deserves to be better known.

At first glance, this is a pretty bay as we see in the Yucatán. But there we take the trouble to do a little snorkeling tour and we approach the reef, you will discover huge sea turtles over a meter long grazing the seabed! It's simply magical!
